Follow Razor’s rehabilitation below.
We were approved by the Georgia Equine Rescue League “GERL” to be a foster home for abused or neglected horses.
Our job will be to help rehabilitate neglected horses to the point where GERL can find them a forever home through their adoption program.
“Razor“
November 16, 2011
We just received a call that we will be taking in an under nourished Colt yearling seized by animal control.
November 17, 2011
His name is “Razor.” He is a stallion that hasn’t fully dropped yet. His body score is 1, which is very bad. He was Vet checked today and arrived at Horse Creek Stable tonight. The Vet puts his weight at 445 lbs. We will post pictures and updates periodically.
November 18, 2011:
Razor is one GREAT little horse. He should bounce back with a little time and TLC. Here he is enjoying sunshine and plenty of grass.
November 20, 2011: Comments left by our last B & B guests .
. . . I wanted you to know that we stopped and took pictures of “your new baby” on our way out and when we got to the fence to take our pictures, he “whinnied” several times at us from the other side (back) of the coral. He also then “ran” over to us and allowed us to pet him!! What a miracle from the scared baby in the corner of his stall only 2 days ago! I was shocked / delighted! You are already working your magic. . .
Sincerely, Your New Friends, Louise & Brian
November 21, 2011 Day 5
Razor is benefiting from lots of TLC and a reliable, caring routine. He’s filling out slowly and steadily. He also has a buddy in Blue. How is it that animals just seem to know and respond to love, even from other animals?
November 25, 2011
Razor has put on a little over 50 lbs this past week. He stands 13.3 hands and has a twinkle back in his eye again. Here he is going on a nice long incline/decline nature trail walk to build up his leg muscles as well as his hind quarter.

This is a new one for us. Razor and Blue sharing Alfalfa together out of the same bowl at the same time. This is one GREAT horse! How are we going to be able to tell Blue that Razor is only here temporarily (or are we kidding ourselves)?
December 17, 2011
Razor now weighs 545 lbs according to the tape. That’s a 100 pound increase since he arrived. His spirits are good, his energy level is way up and this young Stallion’s testosterone is kicking in. We are now practicing lots of “Natural Horsemanship” with him just to stay in command. Buck Brannaman, Pat & Linda Parelli, don’t be shy about stopping by and giving us a hand!
December 26, 2011
Razor now weighs in at 584 lbs. He’s put on 139 pounds since November 17th. Today was his first day being worked in the round pen. He did so incredibly well that we were able to put a saddle on his back. Patience meets a great horse resulting in progress beyond our expectations.

Our young boy Razor had his “Stallion to Gelding” procedure done today. This is a must for horses that are not going to be used for stud purposes. It makes them a much calmer and therefore safer horse. Watch the last half hour of the movie “Buck” to be convinced. Razor now weighs in at 66o pounds which is a great improvement from the 445 pounds at the time of rescue.
April 2, 2012:
We broke down. Yes we did. We are adopting Razor to be a permanent member of our family. He is such a wonderful horse and became so attached to Atlas that the two are inseparable. They even sleep curled up next to each other.
Come visit Razor. He’ll be here for a long time.
